On March 24, 2021, Saskatchewan held its Provincial Nominee Program (PNP). In this draw, 418 candidates were invited to apply for provincial nomination.
The invitations were issued to candidates eligible for a provincial nomination from Saskatchewan Immigrant Nominee Program (SINP).
Specifically, the candidates can be from the International Skilled Worker category.
Among the total invitations, 183 candidates can be found eligible for the Express Entry subcategory. At the same time, the 235 candidates can found their nominations from the Occupations In-Demand subcategory.
To get an invitation, the invited candidates were required to have an Expression of Interest (EOI) score of 70. The candidates were also required to have professional work experience in demanded occupations of the province.
Express Entry subcategory:
Saskatchewan issued 235 invitations to candidates in this latest invitation phase, having their profiles in the federal Express Entry pool.
In this invitation phase, Saskatchewan issued invitations to the candidates. Those applicants had profiles in the federal Express Entry pool. Saskatchewan’s Express Entry is linked with the federal Express Entry portal. This federal Express Entry system manages the three main immigration categories. Those categories are:
The Express Entry candidates file for the provincial nomination, and if they receive a provincial nomination, they are awarded additional 600 points in their Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score. They are guaranteed to receive an Invitation to Apply (ITA) for Canadian permanent residence if they get this.
If the candidates in the Express Entry pool had also filled the EOI for Saskatchewan, and they score 70 points in the province’s Points Assessment Grid, then there was a good chance for their invitation.
Occupations In-Demand subcategory
The Occupations In-Demand subcategory is a base PNP. Those candidates who do not have a federal Express Entry system profile can also apply to this immigration stream. It is available for all immigration candidates who do not have a national Express Entry system profile. This pathway is for those immigration candidates who possess work experience in occupations with labour shortages in Saskatchewan. The candidates from the Occupations In-Demand category were invited to apply for a provincial nomination.
