On January 6, 2021, Canada started its new year by issuing invitations to Express Entry candidates having provincial nominations. Immigration, Refugee and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) issued invitations to those candidates having a minimum score of 813.
This invitation round has issued invitations to those candidates who had nominations from Provincial Nominee Programs, as they will receive additional 600 points towards their CRS.
The 250 invitations were issued to the candidates, and they can now apply for Canadian permanent residence.
Express Entry is the primary immigration application management system for Canada. It manages the three primary immigration streams of Canada; the streams are:
The applicants in the PNPs are given points that are based on the Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS). The applicants are given points on the human capital characteristics such as age, education, skilled work experience, and language proficiency in either English or French. The candidates with the highest CRS score are invited to apply for provincial nomination or Canadian permanent residence.
After the applicants apply, the IRCC then specifies the final decision on the regarding immigration application, and later sends them a confirmation for the permanent residence.
The CRS cutoff scores were slightly dropped at the end of 2020. The graph shows the CRS cutoff scores of the previous draws.
When there is a tie between the candidates, the IRCC follows the tie-breaking rule. In the recent draw, the candidates who had a CRS score of 469 or above, were required to submit their Express Entry profiles before November 2, 2020, at 11:11:52 UTC to receive an invitation.
At the end of 2020, Canada had issued 108,350 ITAs to the Express Entry candidates. Whereas, 2021 is considered as the bigger year in the number of invitations.
Canada has planned to invite 401,000 new immigrants each year, and 108,500 immigrants will be allocated under the Express Entry related programs.
