In the Immigration level plans for the coming years, Canada will invite 10,000 parents and grandparents in this year’s program, and 30,000 immigrants in 202The immigration department will use the random selection procedure for this sponsorship program in 2021.
Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) have only one round of invitation, in which the applicants will be able to apply for the Parents and Grandparents Program (PGP) for 2020.
The IRCC will do the random submissions this time and will send the invitations to apply. As, the IRCC expects that due to the time shortage, the applicants will not be able to complete their applications before 202Consequently, the sponsorship application that is the result of the fall 2020 intake, will be received in early 2021.
The IRCC will accept 10,000 sponsorship applications in the next year. The applications received before the end of December 2020, will be counted towards the application cap of 10,000. In the next year, the application numbers will reach 30,000. Those applicants who have submitted an interest to sponsor in 2020, but were not invited to apply this year, maybe given preference.
IRCC will continue the PGP sponsorship applications on a first. This means that the newly submitted applications will be placed in the queue. The intake dates for the PGP have not been specified yet. The future sponsors must tell the department about their intention to sponsor their parents or grandparents. This can be done by the submission of interest to the sponsor form. The applicants will be required to upload a copy of their status along with the application form. The interest to sponsor form is not an application form. The immigration department will be inviting people to apply for the PGP.
