The BC PNP Tech Pilot program issued 67 invitations to apply to candidates working in British Columbia’s booming tech industry. The September 8 draw invited candidates with a job offer in one of 29 eligible tech occupations.

Candidates needed a minimum Skills Immigration Registration System (SIRS) score of 80 to be eligible for this draw. SIRS is a points-based registration and application system that helps B.C. select the best workers to meet labour market needs and has a maximum point total of 200.

Candidates who receive an invitation to apply will have 30 days to submit their complete application for their provincial nomination. If approved, successful Tech Pilot candidates can then apply for Canadian permanent residence either directly to IRCC or through the Express Entry program. 

BC PNP Tech Pilot Program

The BC Tech Pilot program, which was recently extended until at least June 2021, has supported over 4,200 tech workers since it’s launch in May 201The program features prioritized processing for applicants and a dedicated concierge service to help candidates and employers navigate through the PNP process. 

The pilot helps ensure the BC technology sector can attract and retain the talent it needs to sustain and grow the sector further.

BC Tech Pilot eligibility requirements

Applicants with stronger credentials and language proficiency will be ranked higher and therefore have a greater chance to receive an invitation to apply but the basic eligibility criteria are:

1. A job offer from a BC employer in one of the 29 eligible occupations listed below. This offer must be for a year or longer and have at least 120 days remaining at the time of submission. 
2. An active profile with BC PNP
3. Language scores demonstrating at least a CLB score of 4 or higher
4. A payment of $1,150 at the time of application but registration is free
