On June 9th, 2021, Canada invited 940 Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) candidates to apply for permanent residence through the Express Entry system. This is the highest number of invitations issued in a draw specific to Provincial Nominees. The previous PNP specific draw on May 26th invited 500 candidates. This spike on PNP candidates in the pool shows a high volume of nominations issued in the past week and a half. As Federal Skilled Worker program draws are at a standstill, provinces may be turning to nominee programs to bring over skilled workers and fill labour market gaps.
Draw Number: 191
Draw Date: June 9, 2021
Number of Invitations Issued: 940
Minimum CRS: 711
Program Specified: Provincial Nominee Program (PNP)
Each province operates their nominee programs differently. Many provinces have PNPs aligned with Express Entry (EE); this means that the province can issue a nomination directly through a candidate’s EE profile, adding an additional 600 points. The additional points essentially guarantee that an invitation to apply for permanent residence. The CRS cut-off for this draw 711; this means the lowest ranking candidate had a CRS score of just 111 prior to receiving a provincial nomination.
