On March 2, 2021, Ontario has held a Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) draw. In this draw, Ontario has invited 754 Express Entry applicants to apply for provincial nomination.
The invited candidates had valid profiles in the Express Entry system. The Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score requirement was between 463 and 467.
The Ontario Immigrant Nominee Program (OINP) invited candidates might also be eligible for the Express Entry Human Capital Priorities Stream (HCP).
The OINP invited Express Entry applicants to apply for the provincial nomination. The provincial nominations were allowed only if the candidates had work experience in the following 10 occupations:
The same occupations candidates were invited in the previous Ontario draw.
In order to receive a provincial nomination from Ontario, the applicants were required to have at least 1 year of skilled work experience in the occupations described above. If the candidates are successful in obtaining a provincial nomination, then they will be directed to receive an invitation to apply (ITA) for Canadian permanent residence.
In the previous year, Ontario invited 6,716 Express Entry candidates to apply for a provincial nomination through the Human Capital Priorities stream.
Canada’s Express Entry system
Express Entry is the primary immigration application management system for Canada. It manages the three primary immigration streams of Canada; the streams are:
The applicants in the PNPs are given points that are based on the Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS). The applicants are given points on the human capital characteristics such as age, education, skilled work experience, and language proficiency in either English or French. The candidates with the highest CRS score are invited to apply for provincial nomination or Canadian permanent residence.
If the candidates are successful in obtaining a provincial nomination from any of the provinces of Canada, they are automatically allotted additional 600 points towards their Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score. These additional 600 points ensure a successful Invitation to Apply (ITA) for Canadian permanent residence.
There can be nominations from the provinces of Canada, and the provinces separately have their subcategories where the applicants can apply for nominations. There are also Express Entry programs that are aligned with the various Provincial Nominee Programs (PNP’s)
