On January 26, 2021, British Columbia held its Provincial Nominee Program draw, and the province has invited 81 invitations to the candidates to apply for provincial nomination.

The British Columbia Provincial Nominee Program (BC PNP) has issued 81 invitations through the following streams:

  • Express Entry BC (EEBC)
  • Skills Immigration

The Express Entry British Columbia stream is for those applicants who have their valid profiles in the federal Express Entry. The Express Entry is the main immigration pathway for skilled immigrants who want to obtain permanent residence in Canada.

The Skills Immigration stream is for the skilled and semi-skilled workers who have their occupations in demand in the province of British Columbia.

The Candidates were invited from the Skilled Worker, and International Graduate sub-streams through the BC PNP Tech Pilot. In order to receive an invitation, the invited candidates must have valid job offers in tech occupations. The minimum required score of 80 was required in all the categories. British Columbia holds draws through PNP and streams every week.

BC PNP categories are managed under British Columbia’s Skills Immigration Registration System (SIRS).

If you want to apply through the SIRS, then the eligible candidates are required to register an account. After registering an account, the candidates are assigned a score on various human capital characteristics like education, work experience, and language proficiency.

The candidates with the highest scores in the pool are invited to apply for provincial nomination under any new draw. The involved streams under the SIRS require the candidates to have a valid job offer from an employer in British Columbia.

The candidates who are invited under the Express Entry British Columbia, Skilled Worker, International Graduate categories, can obtain an additional 600 points under the Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) and an Invitation to Apply (ITA), from the federal Express Entry, if they are successful.

The candidates who are successful in obtaining a nomination under these two streams will receive an additional 600 CRS points. These points will ensure an ITA for Canadian permanent residence. The Express Entry System is responsible for the management of the three main economic immigration streams of Canada. These streams are:

  • Federal Skilled Worker Class (FSWP)
  • Federal Skilled Trades Class (FSTP)
  • Canadian Experience Class (CEC)

If you want to get a nomination from these two streams, then you will have to create an Express Entry profile.

British Columbia launched this Tech Pilot in 2017.  The purpose to launch this pilot was to engage more growth in the technology sector and to attract international from the U.S. and as well from technology hub from all over the world.

British Columbia has conducted 5 draws since January 202The scores varied between 77 to 106 points.
