BC PNP: A brief summary

British Columbia has a robust PNP. Many provinces have held draws during the COVID-19 pandemic but few have done so as frequently, and with such high numbers of invitations sent, like BC.

BC PNP is for candidates who have a job offer from an employer in the province. In some cases, holders of a graduate diploma from an eligible BC institution can be eligible to apply without the need for a job offer. The graduate degree must be in a specific field of study that you can find here.

You can apply under the Express Entry BC program if you are eligible to apply to the federal Express Entry system. If you are not eligible for Express Entry, applicants can use the BC Skills Immigration streams to submit an application directly to BC.

There is also the BC PNP Tech Pilot stream. This stream regularly conducts draws for applicants who work in the tech sector of the province.

Excluded occupations from the October 13 provincial draw

Due to ongoing economic disruptions to BC’s economy related to COVID-19, 33 occupations associated with the hospitality, tourism, and retail-sectors were excluded from the October 13 draw. These occupations have been excluded from all BC PNP draws since March. There is no indication when, or if, these occupations will be included again.
