The province of Quebec is offering a unique program that connects newcomers with their first job in their field of expertise.
The positions that are reserved for this program are in the Quebec public service. Pilots, clerks, legal professionals, scientists, and engineers are among the many professions available through this unique Quebec program. Click here to see all positions available.
Applications must be submitted by November 23 at 11:59 p.m. To register, click here.
The program connects members of visible or ethnic minorities with jobs in their field for one-year contracts. After the contract is up, there is a possibility of regular ongoing employment in the Quebec public service after completion of a qualification process.
Persistent underemployment is a problem for many newcomers to Canada. Being a member of a visible or ethnic minority can compound the problem. Programs that connect newcomers with jobs in their field of expertise are a great way to address this issue and increase newcomer participation in the labour market.
Most candidates applying to this program will have immigrated to Canada through a Quebec immigration program. But the requirements do not explicitly state this is a requirement.
There are many French-speaking Canadian newcomers outside of Quebec. So even if you didn’t immigrate to Canada through a Quebec immigration program, you should still be eligible for Quebec’s jobs for Canadian newcomers opportunity.
In fact, if you are willing to relocate to Quebec, this program could be a great option to work in Canada at your first job.
